Laser Ablation and Optics
3 Questions - 3 Answers
When did your enthusiasm for research begin?
When I was already working at the UAS, I came across an entry of mine in a friend's album from my primary school days. It said under career aspirations: scientist.
What topics are you particularly interested in?
After school, I decided to study precision engineering and microtechnology because I wanted to do something with electronics, Computer Science and mechanics, for example to build a robot. Optics was the fourth focus. "If I have to", I thought at the time. Today I do research with lasers, build and work with microscopes and in my free time I like to spend time with my SLR camera and my telescope.
What is the best thing about your job?
I can do what I enjoy doing. The most fun is when the unexpected happens. Because then there's something to research again.
