Development of the first blended learning concept at FHV - Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences for a part-time bachelor's degree programme in Health Care and Nursing.
Until now, it has been difficult for people with professional and/or family commitments to enter a bachelor's degree programme in Health Care and Nursing on a full-time basis. To make part-time access possible, we are working on a blended learning concept consisting of digital self-learning units and face-to-face teaching at FHV. In addition to the technical elaboration, a special focus is on the reflection and design of asynchronous teaching as well as the support of students during self-study.
Project Focus
- Adaptation of the existing face-to-face curriculum to a blended learning curriculum (+2 semesters)
- Development of the individual course structures
- Coaching of the lecturers in the conception and implementation of the digital learning content
- Development of the visual and content-related presentation of the course structure on the learning platform ILIAS
- Evaluation of the effectiveness and the process flow development of a general process for the development of blended learning courses at FHV
Technical Tools
- ILIAS learning platform (learning content & structure)
- Articulate Rise360 (eLearning)
- Power Point Show (sound recording presentation)
- Camtasia (screencast & video)
- MS Teams (Collaboration & Coaching)

The FHV alignment strategy for 2023 to 2028 calls for 30 percent of course offerings to transition to Blended Learning Concepts.
Digitalization is being used as an opportunity to further develop teaching at FHV. A combination of face-to-face teaching and blended learning elements will offer FHV students flexible and individualized study conditions. The proportion of blended learning will be extended to complement face-to-face teaching across all courses. In the future, face-to-face units are to add significant value for students in the face-to-face format. The online part focuses on "Self-paced or time- & location-independent guided learning" in order to promote time- and location-independent studying, the competence of self-studying and collaborative forms of learning. The TELL Center supports and accompanies the degree programmes in this process.
Project Focus
