Can I work 100% in the part-time studies?
Even if experience shows that this is possible, it is not recommended: studying demands quite a bit of time. One day per week you have to keep free in any case additionally (semester 1-3: Friday, semester 6: Monday). The times at which you have courses in the 4th and 5th semesters depend on your choice of focus. In addition, you will also need time at home. Our recommendation is: Reduce your working hours as much as possible (at least less than 70%), especially at the beginning of your studies. Should things go surprisingly well, an increase is in most cases easier than a reduction.

How much work experience do I need to be able to study part-time?
None.

If you want to start working and studying at the same time, a training agreement will be drawn up with you and your company so that work, study and private life are optimally compatible.

Why is there no Mechanical Engineering degree program anymore? Can I no longer set myself a focus?
Due to the intelligent design of the elective options, there are now seven focal points within Mechatronics instead of two (Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering).

Why are the electives referred to as FLEX subjects?
. You have in Mechatronics studies in total 12 ECTS, which you can freely design via electives. What's new here is that you can do the subjects when it suits you, i.e. you don't have to do a subject with 2 ECTS every semester (which is quite possible though). You can, for example, if you are very interested in a specialization subject that is not included in your chosen focus, do this as an elective, even if it has more than 2 ECTS and for this in other semesters less electives.

I have not done anything technical so far. Can I still study Mechatronics?
Yes, of course. And even better than before. In the course of the electives, we have additional laboratory practice especially for you in the offer. This does not replace the practical experience of a technical apprenticeship or subject-specific HTL, but you then have some practical experience, so you feel more confident when you will perform practical activities in a Ferialpraktikum.

I come with a lot of practical experience (Berufsmatura or additional examination to the apprenticeship). Can I manage the study?
The study lives on the theoretical background. To understand the reality on just that, you have to dive deep into the theory. This is an exciting challenge for everyone. For those who do not feel so confident in mathematics, we have in the elective offer right in the first semester a mathematics - training on offer, so that the necessary confidence is learned as quickly as possible.
And yes: We have many graduates every year who have successfully followed exactly this path! The important thing is that you meet the admission requirements!

How much time do I need to study?
To achieve a very good qualification within three years, you must also invest the appropriate time for it. The actual time required depends entirely on your individual situation: How easily do you learn? How easy is it for you to work only in your head? What experience do you have in science or Engineering and Technology? How well can you organize your learning process? In general, a degree program - at least during core hours - is at least comparable to a full-time job.

Is there recognition?
The most you'll learn is by taking the courses. But before you get bored in a course because you've already learned and mastered the content at the same level, you can individually apply for recognition in each course to reduce the time commitment somewhat. Of course, this is especially true for practical experience (e.g., professional practical training or laboratory components).
 
Can I also gain experience abroad during my studies?
Yes, and in several ways: short stays (SAP), study trip or even a whole semester abroad up to a "double-degree" are possible. If you stay there in the 5th semester, you will work together with students from all over the world in projects. For more info, visit Internationalization.

What is the job description of an engineer?
Many of the achievements of our time go back to technical advancements that were driven by Ingenieur:innen. You work on the future with and have it in the hand to design. At work, a lot happens in the head, on the computer and occasionally in the laboratory, but virtually always in interdisciplinary teams.

I've heard studying Engineering and Technology is challenging. How can I master the study?
We have built in various support measures so that all who bring the appropriate commitment can manage the studies: Teambuilding events, revision courses, target group-specific electives, office hours, tutorials, e-learning elements ... just to name a few. Combining our offerings with your high level of personal commitment is the recipe for success.
