Participation in selected courses at the FHV
Offer on study preparation for refugees.
You have the opportunity to attend selected courses in preparation for possible study at the FHV.
The FHV provides a limited number of places for interested persons. Selected courses from the FHV's degree programmes are offered.
By participating in selected courses, you can
- prepare yourself ideally for a possible course of study.
- Get an insight into the everyday life of studies at the FHV.
- get to know the professors of the FHV.
- Get to know students of the FHV.
Women and men with the following status:
- Asylum seekers with a residence authorization card pursuant to section 51 of the Asylum Act
- Persons entitled to asylum
- Subsidiary beneficiaries of protection pursuant to section 52 of the Asylum Act
- Permitted persons pursuant to section 46a FPG
- In addition to the above status:
- At least one foreign matriculation certificate for bachelor courses
- At least a bachelor's degree for master's courses
- plus Sufficient knowledge of German or English (German language level B2)
Sufficient language skills means specifically that you meet the following language requirements:
- you can communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is quite possible without much effort on both sides.
- you can understand the main points of a discussion when clear standard language is used and when it is about familiar matters from work and study.
- you can talk about experiences and events and give brief reasons or explanations for plans and views, and give the advantages and disadvantages of different options.
- You can understand the main ideas of complex texts on concrete topics.
By participating in selected courses, you
- prepare yourself ideally for a possible study.

- get to know the professors of the FHV.
- Get to know students of the FHV.

2. If you know which study program is right for you and for which you meet the admission requirements, please contact us: diversity@fhv.at.
3. After that we will be happy to arrange a consultation appointment with you in which we will talk about your educational goals and motivation. (Please bring to this appointment all certificates in the original; also the proofs of your language skills and the language courses you attend in Austria, they are important).
4. After the first consultation we will check your documents and certificates.
5. If you meet the requirements as described above, together with a contact person from your desired study program, you will select courses that are of interest to you and that can best prepare you for a possible study program.
6. you will be registered as a non-degree seeking students.

An admission to courses at the FHV means:
- Status as non-degree seeking students
- Free participation in courses
- Membership with the Austrian Student Union (ÖH)
- Exercising the rights and duties of a non-degree seeking students
- After attending a course, you will receive a confirmation of attendance
- When you take an examination, you will receive a transcript of records. There is no legal entitlement to recognition of the examination achievements in the possible later admission to a degree program. However, the certificate of attendance can help to facilitate access to a possible degree program.
