Accessibility Statement

FHV is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with legal requirements for barrier-free access to websites and mobile applications.

This accessibility statement applies to the website www.fhv.at

Our efforts aim to design web content in accordance with the current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their individual needs, can easily use the content.

Measures for accessibility

We strive to meet the requirements of WCAG 2.1 at the AA level. The focus is on making the entire website accessible, including texts, images, navigation elements, and interactive functions.

Current state of compliance

This website is partially compliant with the AA level of the “Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – WCAG 2.1” and the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) according to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.

  • Perceivability:
    • Text Alternatives: Most images on the website are provided with alt text to enable appropriate perception for users with visual impairments. Images are responsive and optimized for different screen sizes.
    • Adaptability: The website is responsive and provides an optimal display for different devices. The website is designed so that users can adjust the font size using the zoom functions of all common browsers or the operating system. The contrast can also be adjusted via system settings.
    • Media: All videos on the website are embedded via YouTube and therefore have subtitles.
  • Operability:
    • Keyboard Accessibility: Many interactive elements of the website can be operated with the keyboard without requiring a mouse.
    • Navigation Aids: The main navigation is presented as a structured list, helping screen readers understand the navigation structure. Most links have descriptive text.
  • Understandability:
    • Text Comprehensibility: Texts on the website are written in clear language to ensure high comprehensibility. The footer is distinctly marked.
    • Error Messages and Support: Error messages and form inputs are clearly understandable, and users receive instructions for error correction.
  • Robustness:
    • Technology Compatibility: Our website is compatible with common browsers and assistive technologies to ensure barrier-free use on all devices. The site works on mobile devices and largely with screen readers.
    • Future-Proofing: The website is regularly updated to remain compatible with future technologies and standards.

Non-accessible content

The following content is only partially or not accessible:

  • Some images, tables, controls, and graphics lack alt attributes.
  • Certain CSS classes have an insufficient contrast ratio.
  • Some skip links are missing, which would allow users to skip to main content areas.
  • There may be errors in the heading hierarchy
  • A visual focus outline is missing on interactive elements when they are operated with the keyboard.
  • Not all documents are accessible.
  • There may be deviations in the required colour contrast for graphics and images.

Due to the enormous amount of data, complexity, and dynamics of the website, we cannot make all content and services accessible. However, we are continuously working to improve our web presence.

Future steps and improvement plan

We are continuously working to further improve the accessibility of our website. Our next steps include optimising usability with assistive technologies (including skip links and screen readers) and completing the image alt texts. Additionally, we plan to conduct regular tests to ensure we comply with the latest standards.

Creation of the accessibility statement

This statement was created on 18 February 2025. The statement was based on a self-assessment conducted by the FHV - Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences.

Feedback and contact

We are always interested in improving our services. If you encounter any barriers on our website or have difficulty accessing certain content, please contact us at websupport@fhv.at. We take your feedback seriously and strive to ensure barrier-free access.

Enforcement procedure

If you do not receive a satisfactory response from the above contact, you can file a complaint with the complaints office of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the complaints office contact form.

The FFG will examine whether the complaint relates to violations of the Web Accessibility Act, particularly deficiencies in compliance with accessibility requirements by the federal government or an entity attributable to it.

If the complaint is justified, the FFG will issue recommendations to the federal government or the affected legal entities and propose measures to remedy the deficiencies.
