What can you expect?

European companies are unexpectedly confronted with human rights and environmental risks in China, Morocco or the Congo, even if they only source services in Europe. The EU Green Deal brings new challenges for companies, including the future obligation to monitor the supply chain. Kai Gammelin reports on the classification of the topic, his experience of implementing the Supply Chain Duty of Care Act in Germany, explains areas of tension for obligated companies and the (in)direct impact on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

He also compares the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act with the forthcoming EU Supply Chain Act (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive - CSDDD) and its impact on obligated companies and SMEs. The pressure is enormous. Accusations of greenwashing, high penalties, legal action by associations, initial court proceedings, reputational risks and transparent auditing approaches along the supply chain are all on the horizon.
