What is the essence of your job as a university lecturer and what fascinates you about it?
What fascinates me most about my job as a university lecturer is the exchange with young people and the dialogue at eye level, for example when supervising theses. I also enjoy familiarising myself intensively with new topics and constantly learning new things myself. The job is very meaningful, as I can actively help shape the future as a multiplier.

Which trends in your area of expertise do you find particularly interesting and in which subject areas are you particularly involved?
The finance function is also being significantly influenced by digitalisation and AI, as these technologies offer enormous potential for improvements and efficiency gains. I am pleased that finance departments play a central role in the sustainable transformation of companies, for example through sustainability controlling, reporting and sustainable finance. I am also enthusiastic about traditional corporate finance topics such as corporate financing and M&A.

What would you like to pass on to your students and what should they bring with them?
In order to be valued as a business partner or manager in the financial sector, I believe that in-depth professional expertise, critical thinking and the ability to empathise are particularly important. The basic requirements for a degree programme are curiosity and commitment as well as openness to feedback, including critical feedback.
