Innovation and Solopreneurship in Consulting

The knowledge communication project "Inosolo" supported students and graduates who aspire to solo self-employment in the field of consulting and work as freelancers. These self-employed and spin-offs often fail due to a lack of knowledge in the area of business model development, also because product orientation as well as economies of scale are hardly given for their activities. This is where the project came in: Together, impulse-giving business models were developed from business ideas, target groups were defined, the profitability of projects was outlined and possibilities of targeted acquisition activities were explained. The innovative character of the project was demonstrated on the one hand by the individualization of the teaching, and on the other hand by the orientation on live cases brought in by the participants. Furthermore, a toolbox for the competence development of the participants was created.

The mediation service was provided by a networked offer of the research groups Empirical Social Sciences, the University of Applied Sciences Kempten and the startupstube of the FHV. This passed an online event in the winter semester 2020/21 on the methodological basics and current tools on the topic of business model development. In parallel, the participants prepared initial project outlines. In a subsequent one-and-a-half-day Spring School, they developed the projects and services they had contributed. The use of design thinking enabled the students and graduates to design a complete cycle of professional business model development.
