Effective Collaboration between Humans and Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers great potential for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of human labour in many areas. However, integrating AI into human work remains challenging. Not least because AI differs significantly from the technologies we are familiar with. The focus of this research area is the development of target states of effective human-AI collaborations. In addition to various collaboration forms (e.g. automation vs. augmentation, ensembling vs. hybrid intelligence), the focus here is also on the design of the roles and agency of humans and AI. In addition, we are interested in the changing requirements for skills and competencies required for effective human-AI collaboration. As part of this research focus, we look at multiple processes and actors. We are particularly interested in corporate decision-making, expert and knowledge work, consumer choices, as well as teaching and learning processes.
