Research Engineering
Sensors & Actuators
In microtechnology sensing & actuation, we are concerned with the modeling and characterization of DRIE-derived electrochemical bio- and environmental sensing, laser ablation-derived piezo platform for use in quantum technology and biology, and surface acoustic waves (SAW) for microfluidic manipulation.
Photonic Applications
In photonics, we are concerned with the modeling and design of highly efficient passive optical components for passive optical networks and the diverse use of a femtosecond laser for material processing andsurface patterning.
Dynamics
In dynamics, we are concerned with linear and nonlinear modeling, numerical computation, and analytical approximation of rotordynamics and bearing technology and structural dynamics of load-bearing devices and MEMS. This includes wave propagation in acoustic black holes and the design of time-periodic feedforward to stabilize or accelerate transient behavior.
