Long Night of Research inspires young and old

27.05.2024
Around 4,500 visitors immersed themselves in the Long Night of Research (LNF24) with its ten locations in Dornbirn and Lustenau on Friday, 24 May 2024. When the doors of the FHV opened at 5 p.m., the building quickly filled with astonished faces of all ages.

A unique variety of topics was presented at 31 stations in the FHV. It provided insights into current research projects, but also gave an outlook on what will be possible in the future. Research questions were presented with great attention to detail so that everyone could try out and experiment for themselves. Questions were tirelessly asked and explained, people looked closely and discussed together.

Curiosity for research awakened

The FHV's researchers, lecturers and strong partners came up with a wide variety of playful, understandable and entertaining formats to make research and science tangible and visible. "For me, it was a very exciting event at the FHV in a great atmosphere. It was great to see how many young people and children were very interested in the technical topics and asked great questions," says Max Käfer, research associate at the microtechnology research center, describing the evening and his impressions.

Engineering and Technology, Energy, Sustainability and Design

Over the course of the evening, Governor Markus Wallner, State Councillor Martina Rüscher and State Councillor Marco Tittler as well as the Deputy Mayor of Dornbirn Julian Fässler were also among the visitors to LNF24. They were also impressed by how many research topics can be found under one roof at the FHV. Only when the Long Night of Research came to an end at around 11 p.m. were VR goggles taken off again, lasers cooled down and peace and quiet returned to the micro world, which always seems to be in motion.
