05.11.2024
During a fireside chat in the FHV library, two outstanding theses by FHV students were each honored with the VDI (Association of German Engineers Lake Constance) sponsorship award in the amount of 500 euros.

Prof. Dr. Harald Ludanek congratulated the two prizewinners on behalf of VDI Bodensee. Karla Tschavoll (bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering dual) worked on a parameterizable and compilable simulation programme in MATLAB. She is currently working in a research team at Airbus. "Karla has shown that she deserves this recognition through her commitment and continuous development. With this challenging work, she has demonstrated her ability to tackle complex technical issues and develop innovative solutions. Furthermore, her commitment to teaching projects makes her a role model for other students," congratulated program director Franz Geiger.

After the apprenticeship into studies

Viktoria Tiefenthaler (bachelor's degree in Engineering and Management) comprehensively converted a manual assembly line for slip clutches into an automated production line as part of her final thesis. The 27-year-old works at Hilti, where she previously completed an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineering technician with design technology. "After successfully completing her studies at the FHV, nothing stands in the way of her becoming a manager," said programme director Karin Feurstein-Pichler at the award ceremony.

Networking at the fireside chat

During the VDI fireside chat, questions about the current job market for engineers, the technical challenges of climate change, the transformation tasks in the automotive industry and career opportunities as well as tips for applications were discussed. Moderator Prof. Dr. Harald Ludanek was able to answer many questions from his wealth of experience.
