Module "Electrical Engineering", Semester 1 to 4

Course content
  • Energy Industry Overview: Demand for electrical/general energy, generation of electrical energy, energy trading/exchange, tariff systems
  • Power Plants Overview: Thermal power plants, hydroelectric power plants, nuclear power plants, alternative power generation (PV, wind, geothermal, tidal, etc.)
  • Control in the grid: turbine control, active power frequency control, voltage and reactive power control
Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students will be able to explain technical, ecological, economic aspects of electrical power supply systems, explain safety aspects of electrical power supply systems, outline the structure of electrical power supply systems as well as name and assign possible components and explain their significance as well as interrelationships from a technical and economic point of view.
