"explore and explain" in data visualization
What can you expect?
Information graphics can be used to explore a complex data set and provide surprising insights into a topic or to convey information to a target audience in a clear and understandable way. Based on selected projects, the potential of data visualization in the broad spectrum between "explore and explain" is defined and illustrated. In our day-to-day work as designers, we can help to ensure that socially relevant topics and complex content are clearly communicated and understood. It is about making the need for action visible, promoting insights and encouraging active action. The view from the outside - from the perspective of design on other disciplines and their content - enables a new approach or an unexpected (visual) reading of specific topics. A well-founded examination of the content to be presented, a systematic way of working and at the same time a willingness to experiment with the 'craft' of graphic design can contribute significantly to a meaningful and independent visual result
