FHV at the press foyer on Health Care and Nursing

08.04.2025
Diana Brodda represented the university and looked back on the successful academic path, presented the new Bachelor upgrade programme and the nostrification course for people from third countries.

In order to cope with the rapidly increasing demand in the care sector and to attract the urgently needed workforce, a permeable training system was created with the "Vorarlberger Weg in die Pflege" (Vorarlberg path into care), which enables all those interested - with and without a school-leaving certificate - to enter the care profession. "We have placed nursing training in Vorarlberg on a broad foundation - and this is paying off," said Governor Markus Wallner and State Councillor Martina Rüscher in the press foyer, giving an interim assessment that is certainly encouraging. The measures implemented in the last government period to make the training on offer more attractive and expand it are bearing fruit: the variety of opportunities is encouraging interest and initial trends show an increase in the number of trainees.

Important role of the FHV
Diana Brodda from the FHV, programme director and head of the Health Care and Nursing (GKP) competence area, was present at the Landhaus. In the press foyer, she looked back on the successful academic path and presented the new bachelor's upgrade program and the nostrification course for people from third countries. "A unique feature of the GKP degree program at the FHV is the close link between theory and practice," she emphasized. The FHV has been offering the Bachelor's degree in Health Care and Nursing since 2018. The combination of scientific, professional and personality-building skills characterizes the university course. In addition to the academic degree, graduates receive the professional qualification for the higher service in Health Care and Nursing. "Since the start of the healthcare and nursing degree program at our university, the number of students has increased continuously. There are currently 183 students enrolled in Health Care and Nursing. With the support of the Vorarlberg state government, we have been able to expand the number of study places and are pursuing the common goal of attracting even more people to study nursing and training urgently needed nurses for the higher service," explains FHV Managing Director Stefan Fitz-Rankl.
