This session will present the application of digital twins to last-mile logistics in six European cities, to support experimentation and decision making in a public-private urban setting.

Keynotespeaker: Carolina Ciprés (Zaragoza Logistics Center)

A Digital Twin is a digital replica of a real-world environment, a concept originally stemming from industrial backgrounds.

Digital twins for supply chain management are even more complex than digital twins for manufacturing, as the flow of goods from demand to supply relies on the orchestration of multiple actors.

Digital twins present thus the opportunity to perform simulation and optimization based on machine learning to predict the future, thus allowing data-based decision making for supply chain management.

This session will present the application of digital twins to last-mile logistics in six European cities, to support experimentation and decision making in a public-private urban setting.

Innovative solutions for city logistics are represented in the Digital Twin by value cases combining a set of a strategies: innovative business models; agile urban freight storage and last-mile distribution schemes; low emission, automated, electric or hybrid delivery vehicles; and smart logistics solutions.
