What can you expect?

The shortage of skilled labour is prompting companies to think outside the box when searching for potential employees. If successful, this leads to more diverse workforces and teams. Studies show that diverse teams are often more innovative and resilient. But is everything really perfect?

Fabian A. Rebitzer highlights the challenges companies face, what they can do to successfully establish their diversity management, and why it is so important not to act reactively. This involves much more than promoting intercultural competencies or employing women in leadership positions. To attract and retain employees from more diverse backgrounds, diversity management must be seen as a holistic and strategic task of personnel and organisational development. Fabian A. Rebitzer also shows how the increasing polarisation of the diversity discourse can influence companies in relation to their stakeholders and challenge them to position themselves clearly. His plea: an early and conscious engagement with the topic to clearly assess and utilise opportunities and risks.

The lecture is rounded off by a panel discussion with speakers and representatives from Junge Wirtschaft Vorarlberg and UBIT in the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce.
 

Speaker

Fabian A. Rebitzer has been involved in research at FHV since 2011 and has led the Empirical Social Sciences research group for four years. He has also headed the Diversity Office since 2017, thus being responsible for FHV’s diversity management. He originally studied sociology with a focus on organisational and developmental sociology at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, where he later worked at the Institute of Social Sciences. He has been repeatedly engaged with questions concerning the interaction of social systems and the diversity of their members in various contexts ever since.

Our Blickpunk Business and Management event series is aimed at the general public with an interest in economics. Our aim is to publicize the FHV's activities in the field of Business and Management, our cooperation with companies in the region and our Business Administration degree programmes.
