App for studying at the FHV
22.04.2024What should I wear today? Both women and men deal with this question every day. Whether elegant or sporty - the right clothes make a significant contribution to our well-being. Viktoriia Simakova devoted herself to precisely this topic as part of her bachelor's thesis in Business Informatics at the FHV - Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences.
She developed the idea for an app called "Les Ensembles", which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize the closet, offer personalized styling and thus save time and money. When pitching her business idea at the start night, an initiative of the Chamber of Commerce's start-up service, the 22-year-old was awarded the audience prize.
Women's view of AI
"The app is like a personal stylist. It uses photos of your clothes to create a digital closet. Depending on the occasion, the app suggests outfits. The more you use it, the better the AI knows you. Items of clothing that have not been worn for a long time can be sold via the app," she explains. The app also helps with shopping. For example, it suggests a top for a pair of trousers that is already in the closet or even the right shoes.
Men are mainly active in the IT sector. They develop solutions to problems from their point of view. "That's why it's all the more important that women's perspectives are added, because we deal with other problems and develop solutions to them," she explains. The girl of choice is looking for initial testers for the "Les Ensembles" app as well as people who would like to work with her in the areas of development and social media marketing. "Anyone interested is welcome to get in touch with me," she says.
Benefits from RUN-EU
Viktoriia is currently completing a Master's degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Software Engineering for Intelligent Systems at the FHV and works as a part-time test manager at MIA Systems in Hohenems. "The degree program allows me to immerse myself in the world of AI. My employer is very flexible and adapts to my individual situation. I was even able to spend a semester abroad in Sweden near Stockholm and work remotely," she explains. In general, traveling is one of Viktoriia's passions. Because the FHV is part of the international university network Regional University Network European University (RUN-EU), she has had the opportunity to complete numerous short stays abroad.
Ideal for working professionals
"The short programs are perfect for students who are working. I've been to Portugal, Finland and the Netherlands several times for a week each. The RUN-EU students are like a big family," she enthuses. Her next trip abroad is already planned. "I'm going to the Czech Republic for a semester abroad in the fall. I want to specialize in AI and medicine there," she says, looking ahead. That sounds interesting? Register now for the information evening at the FHV!
