FHV InterMedia meets HAMK Smart & Sustainable Design

29.10.2024
In order to make the Double Degree Programme Smart & Sustainable Design (HAMK) x InterMedia (FHV), which was developed as part of RUN-EU, come alive, colleagues from the HAMK met with the team from the Department of Design and the InterMedia students at the FHV to design the content of the programme.

The Double Degree Programme is being designed

In order to make the Smart & Sustainable Design (HAMK) x InterMedia (FHV) double degree programme developed as part of RUN-EU tangible, the colleagues from HAMK met with the team from the Department of Design and the InterMedia students at FHV to design the content of the programme. The programme kicked off with a workshop as part of the Eco-Design specialization. After an input from programme director Anna Huoviala on sustainable design in the field of fashion, the students worked on their own collection as part of a three-hour design sprint. The models were to be designed according to the principles of modularity or zero waste.

Supported by Anna Huoviala, Nina Kyber (Senior Lecturer) and Johanna Ojanen (Student Counsellor), the students set to work with paper, fabrics, Finnish chocolate and a large portion of fun and successfully completed the task. "It was particularly exciting to see how an idea can be translated into a prototype using simple means. The goal of developing long-lasting products or services instead of just products - this is something that must be pursued in all design projects, not just in fashion," says InterMedia student Lukas, who created a multifunctional streetwear collection together with Jan.

Facts about the double degree programme: BA Smart & Sustainable Design (HAMK) x InterMedia (FHV)

After basic studies at your home university, you develop your individual learning path: you combine subjects from both degree programmes, write a thesis in English, graduate from both universities and thus have two Bachelor's degrees.

  • A learning journey at two universities with an individually tailored learning pathway
  • 1 year of study at the partner university
  • Thesis in English, assessed at both universities
