Press foyer on the topic of research at the FHV

18.03.2025
Student numbers and research volume at an all-time high: 1627 students enrolled in the 2024/25 academic year - research volume at 6.5 million euros.

The FHV continues to pursue a successful path in teaching and research. "Excellent research and educational work has been carried out at the FHV for more than three decades. Through continuous further development, the FHV continues to set new standards and thus makes a significant contribution to the competitiveness and future viability of our region," emphasized Governor Markus Wallner and Provincial Councillor Barbara Schöbi-Fink unanimously. The FHV's research volume amounted to 6.5 million euros in 2024 and was once again increased by eight percent. Third-party funding amounted to 4.2 million euros and accounted for 62.5 percent. In addition, 1627 students began their studies in the 2024/25 academic year, which is also a historic high.

The FHV started the 2024/25 academic year with 1627 students, 1238 of whom are studying for a Bachelor's degree and 389 for a Master's degree. 1323 people, or 81 percent, come from Vorarlberg. For the first time, women outnumber men with 852 enrolled students compared to 775 enrolled students. The university offers 25 study programs in four departments. 43 percent of students are enrolled in Engineering and Technology, 23 percent in Business and Management, eleven percent in Design and 23 percent in Work and Health.

Studying as a network

"It is pleasing to note that the applicant ratio per study place is 1:1.7 in both the bachelor's and master's degree programs, which means that we have 70 percent more applications than we offer study places. This is impressive proof that we are attractive to our target group. Our graduates continue to benefit from very good prospects for the future. 77% already have a job offer in their pocket when they graduate," says FHV Managing Director Stefan Fitz-Rankl. One reason for this, in addition to the good qualifications, is that students make contact with employers early on thanks to the numerous collaborations with partners in the regional business landscape.

"The close cooperation between the university and local companies is a hallmark of the FHV. Here, research and Business and Management go hand in hand, from which both sides benefit significantly," emphasizes Governor Wallner.
